About the Book Series

An inspiring, inclusive and whimsical way to learn about computing and technology

Ara is a young girl who loves to dream BIG. She’s always on a problem solving mission. How can we count all the stars in the sky? How can we decode dreams? How can we build drones that deliver free ice creams?

This highly acclaimed STEM Book Series has inspired children and adults around the world and is being published in more than 10 languages globally! The whimsical narrative introduces kids to computing and courage, technology and empathy, risking and rising. A big aim of the books is to introduce young curious minds to real-life trailblazers (engineers, founders, scientists, artists) from diverse backgrounds, and to show them representations of themselves that they are hard-pressed to find elsewhere. The author was inspired to take on this project when a hypothesis put forth by her 4-year old daughter stunned her: “Oh mamma, Engineers are Boys”.

Follow the adventures as Ara and her sidekick droid, DeeDee, tinker-and-tailor, test-and-troubleshoot. See them navigate through a whirlwind of intriguing locations — hackathons, coding pods, data centers. Watch their encounters with real-life women trailblazers of diverse backgrounds. AHA!
